Beaches on Aegina island

Aegina island offers a variety of beaches for every taste. There are a lot of organised beaches with sunbeds and umbrellas, but there are also many spots where you can sunbathe on the rocks and jump in the deep water. At walking distance from the hotel you will find the Avra beach and the Kolona beach. If you visit Aegina with small kids, the beaches of Aghia Marina and Marathonas are ideal because of the shallow water. The active teenagers will have a great time at Kamares beach and Aiginitissa and if you are looking for the more quiet beaches, we can recommend Vagia, Sarpa & Klima. You can also take a small boat from Perdika and visit the island of Moni with her animals and crystal clear water. Moni also has a beach bar and organised beach. The neigbouring island of Agistri has wonderful beaches and the island is only 10 minutes away by boat, ideal for a day trip. Most of the beaches are organised from June until the end of September.

Walking & trekking

The areas of Palaiochora with plenty of walking paths, dense vegetation and a lot of churches to visit, the area around the village of Mesagros, the area around Mount Oros, the area around the village of Sfendouri & the area around the Monastery of Chrysoleonitissa, are ideal destinations (of course there are much more ...) for those who love walking & trekking.

Spring and autumn are the ideal seasons, because it is not that hot and the visibility is better. However every season has its own charm as well as different conditions and therefore demands. During your walk in spring you will encounter plenty of wild flowers and herbs next to the grasslands or in the middle of the shady forests. If you would like to make walks in the summer months you really have to start very early as it get soon too hot.

The Acropolis
What would a visit to Athens be without going to the Acropolis to see the Parthenon? Why is the Parthenon so important. Its because it was the most perfect building, built by the world's most advanced civilization and even though people have been studying it for centuries they are still not sure how they did it. You can take a tour or wander up there yourself but during the summer, whatever you do, unless it is overcast, go early or late in the day. From the top of the hill you have a splendid view. Afterwards, a visit to Plaka with its nice terraces and small shops is highly recommended.

The new Acropolis Museum
The new Acropolis Museum was designed with two objectives: the first to offer the best conditions for the exhibition and secondly to be a Museum that welcomes and befriends its visitors. A walk through its galleries is a walk through history – between the masterpieces of the Archaic and Classical periods, but also in the ancient neighborhoods of Athens. The Museum offers many opportunities for rest and recreation, as well as a visitor friendly environment for some of the most emblematic works of antiquity. The new Acropolis Museum has a total area of 25,000 square meters, with exhibition space of over 14,000 square meters, ten times more than that of the old museum on the Hill of the Acropolis. The new Museum offers all the amenities expected in an international museum of the 21st century.
